Canal Houses of Amsterdam

Amsterdam has become one of my favorite cities in Europe. One thing I love about it is that it’s a walkable city. On this solo trip, I walked endlessly. As a result, I was lost most of the time – and I loved it! I also admired the traditional Dutch architecture seen in the canal houses of Amsterdam.

This photo represents the traditional Dutch Renaissance architecture. Narrow façades and steep gables characterize these canal houses. The gable style started as an interpretation of the Gothic style, then Renaissance and later Baroque.

I don’t believe any shot of Amsterdam is complete without a bicycle. Therefore, I waited for a few minutes to capture a cyclist in the frame 😁.
